Blood Stained Tranquility (Ryze #2)
This is the second part of the Ryze series and it gets even better than the first, I didn't think that was possible. The author did a phenomenal job of making this story line come to life. There is so much information and yet she still made it all blend together without losing the story. All of the characters from before are there again and I found myself falling a little more in love or attached to every single one of them.
Blood Flows Deep (Ryze #1)
I was not at all prepared to like this book as much as I did. I had ZERO idea that I would lose track of time. To the point that I forgot to eat, use the bathroom, get a drink, go outside to smoke, or even answer questions with more than a grunt (and maybe a shooshing away with my hand to my son when he asked a question). I even went as far to turn off my phone so that I wouldn't get interrupted by texts or phone calls. Anyway, I digress, so on to the review now.
The author did an exceptional job world building. She created a story of Gods and Goddesses that rivaled Greek and Roman Mythology. Only they were better. Even with a crapton of new Gods, they were easy to understand as was the history involved. Not once did I get lost on who was who or what their purpose was. This story is about Ismini and Dyletri. Ismini is such an unusual character. She knows her purpose is to be a sacrifice to bring back Dyletri's "love" but she manages to do it with grace and a gentle soul. Dyletri. The God of Lust. He proved that he had the mouth to back that name. Together watching these two fight off their misguided feelings was incredibly fulfilling to watch. The moments that there was steam it was STEAMY.
You also get to see others have their own chapters in the story. Evesse and Zeniel, Ianthen and Soleria (just to name a few) have their own chapters in the story. I enjoyed this as it gave me insight into what is in store in the future of this series. It did not detract from the story at all but rather enhanced it as this was very much the story of Ismini and Dyletri. The author included an Index of names as well as a glossary of terms that seemed very daunting when I first opened it but found that I did not need it when I was reading it. I was able to infer what she was saying. After reading I did go back to look again at what they were Gods of just to make sure in my head before Part two started.
I cannot believe that I had never heard of this story because it is that good. I want ALL the characters to have a story in how they are going to beat Fate and the Destinies. Basically, I can already tell that I do not want this world/series to end.

While this is a continuation of the first story from where it left off, it primarily focuses on Evesse and Zeniel, but all of the characters play a part in the story because united they all influence the outcome of what will happen. Zeniel, is the God of Tranquility that is in battle with his other half Mavrak, the God of Vengeance. Evesse, also known as Eve, is one kick-butt female. Even when she becomes the balance to Zeniel by becoming his voice of reason as the Goddess of Justice, she does it with compassion and genuine love. Whereas Zeniel wants to hide that half of him that he considers evil, Eve wants him to embrace it. She loves the bad boy as much as the tenderhearted man she first meets. They have hands down some of the steamiest scenes that I have ever read in a book. All I can say is that Eve is one lucky girl because she gets the Alpha man and the gentle soul all the time. She basically gets to have her cake and eat it too.
So many questions were answered from the first book but for every one that was answered another two would sprout up. All I can say is this authors imagination is one of a kind. She takes it, along with her world building to a whole new level.
I cannot wait to see the next chapter of the story. I especially want to read more about Nylicia (and to see if my thoughts on Zexistr is right) and Solera and Ianthen. There is a lot of characters left. I cannot wait to see them hopefully all get there interconnected stories.
